Under WSIB rules – First Aid Program, here are the general guidelines to follow in selecting the course that you need.
All businesses in Ontario covered by the WSIA must provide first aid training to their employees. The required training depends on the number of employees per shift:
· For workplaces with five or fewer people working on any one shift, at least one person must have an emergency first aid certificate.
· For workplaces with six or more people working on any shift, at least one person must have a standard first aid certificate.
PREMERGENCY’s Emergency first aid certifications and Standard first aid certifications are both valid for a period of 3 years and must be recertified prior to the expiration date. Our first aid programs include a CPR & AED certification component. It is important to select the correct one when you pick your course.
Under the ILCOR guidelines, it is recommended that CPR & AED certification be certified on a yearly basis. There exist 2 levels of CPR certification.
· CPR Level C & AED certification is the standard for everyone.
· CPR Level BLS (Basic Life Support) & AED certification is designed for health care providers and are required by your professional association, your employer or in some instances by law regulating your profession.
